Flexible staffing, employment status and pensions

Home / Employment law services

Review fixed-term, part-time, agency and freelance arrangements, together with pension and retirement commitments.

What we help you decide

Choose the right staffing model. We assess the relevant documents, explain the available routes and agree the scope of advice before taking further steps.

Fixed-term and part-time work

Fixed-term contracts require a valid legal basis or compliance with a permitted no-objective-reason route, as well as the applicable form. Extensions deserve review before the existing term expires. Part-time and temporary part-time rights have their own conditions; do not borrow headcount thresholds from dismissal law.

Agency workers and contractors

Assess the actual instructions, integration and business organisation behind a proposed model. Contract wording does not determine employment or social-security status on its own. Agency work can require authorisation and compliance with assignment and equal-treatment rules; a supplier agreement is not enough.

Pensions and retirement

Review occupational pension commitments, salary conversion, funding, vesting and changes to schemes. Partial retirement is ordinarily based on an agreement or applicable collective arrangement, rather than a general unilateral entitlement. Obtain specialist tax and social-security input where the package needs it.

Practical example

A consultant works exclusively within a client team under its daily instructions. Before renewing the arrangement, we assess classification and possible regularisation, including the consequences for the business and the individual.

Documents for an initial review

  • Prior employment and extension history
  • Agency authorisation and assignment records
